ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Family, fellow politicians and ordinary citizens from all walks of life filed pass the open casket today January 17, 2018 (happening now) of former Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Omar W. Hodge.

The political giant, with a laundry list of significant accomplishments, died at his temporary Fort Recovery home on December 20, 2017.

He will continue to lie in state at the Parliament Building, also called the House of Assembly (HoA), in Road Town on the main island of Tortola until 4:30 P.M.

The first viewing this morning, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. was specifically for current and former elected Members of the HoA, as well as judges and diplomats.

Mr Hodge, an Opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Member, is affectionately known as “The People’s Man” because of his fight for the rights of all people, including those from the other Caribbean islands.

The service on January 18, 2018

On Thursday January 18, 2018 a procession will leave the parking lot of the BVI Ports Authority, Port Purcell at 9:00 A.M. along the Blackburn Highway and proceed east to the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre at Baughers Bay.

A pre-service is scheduled for 9:30 A.M. with the funeral service following at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at the Johnson’s Ghut Cemetery. Official flags are being flown at half-mast today and tomorrow January 18, 2018 at all Government buildings in the Territory.

    My condolences goes out to the entire family of the late Omar Hodge.
    He was indeed a very good man.
    He looks out for not only the Virgin Islanders, but also people from other countries who worked and live here.

    Mr. R. Pickering of main street should have still been alive. He was the People's man spiritual adviser and would have gave him a great send off.
