ST. THOMAS, USVI - The United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Fire Service this week, advised the general public that a ‘burn ban’ is currently in effect throughout the territory.

The ban, which prohibits all outdoor burning, has been issued by Fire Service Director Nominee, Daryl A. George due to dry weather conditions, which have increased the risk for brush fires.

All burn permits previously issued are hereby revoked, the release said. Meanwhile, St. Thomas, officials are looking into the possibility of tapping a naturally occurring spring to bring water down to assist farmers in Estate Bordeaux.

Camp fires, brush fires and other outside burning are on hold, the government officials have said.
