LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI- Fire broke out at a 2-storey home in Long Bush, Tortola, this afternoon, September 1, 2020, damaging 2 bedrooms of the property before Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services arrived and, with help from members of the public, quickly extinguished it.

The incident was confirmed by Chief Fire Officer, Mr Zebalon A. McLean, who told our newsroom his officers received a call at 5:35pm about a fire at a building close to a garage and opposite Sugar Mill Road.

Arriving promptly on the scene with two fire trucks, some 10 fire officers proceeded to tackle the flames and managed to control the blaze in about 15 minutes.

By that time; however, two rooms were already damaged. There was a “complete loss of items” in the rooms, Mr McLean stated.

There were no injuries; however.

The Fire Chief commended the work of his officers and also members of the public who assisted.

“Really appreciate the help we received from the public,” Mr McLean said.

It is unclear at this time what was the cause of the fire.

I am blatantly sick and tired of people working this errant high science throughout the territory resulting in fires, disease and corruption. Please stay away from shaking the bottle if you know your skills of the craft is mediocre and will result in loss of property or lives.
