NOTTINGHAM ESTATE, Tortola, VI - A major catastrophe was averted when a fire broke out in a three story apartment building in Nottingham Estate, on the eastern end of Tortola this morning, December 21, 2018 around 8:00 AM.

The building belongs to Businessman and political aspirant Rajah A. Smith.

The fire gutted one studio apartment where the tenants lost many items including personal documents, clothing and other household items.

No one was injured or was in the studio apartment at the time of the fire.

Quick thinking heroes

Quick thinking, led workmen around the area to start throwing water on the fire, preventing it from spreading to the other apartments in the building, a nearby gas tank and adjacent houses.

Once on site, the Fire and Rescue Department quickly put out the fire believed to have started in the studio apartment bedroom.

Landlord, Mr Smith thanked the good works of the Fire and Rescue Department who were able to save his building.
