ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - All eyes will be on St. Thomas this Sunday March 18, 2012 for the final leg of the first ever Virgin Islands’ Triple Crown. The first leg was ran on January 15, 2012 at the Virgin Islands’ (Tortola) famous Ellis Thomas Downs and was won by St. Croix’s Slevin and the second leg ran on St. Croix’s Randall ‘Doc’ James Racetrack on February 19, 2012 and was won by new comer Bud White of St. Thomas.

Now is the final leg at the Clinton E. Phipps Racing Park and Tortola’s East End Tap could be the favourite to up-set Bud White, the horse which pundits predict to win the Triple Crown feature race.

There will be nine exciting races and the big prize purse for the feature race, the one that will crown the first ever Triple Crown winner, has a purse of a minimum of $13,000. The race will see East End Tap and Good Prospecting of Tortola, taking on Political Reporter and Berberis of St. Croix, and Bud White and Diablo’s Fire of St. Thomas.

Post time for this Sunday's races is 1:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Road Town Fast Ferry has announced that it will be running a special boat trip for the races of $35.00 Roundtrip to St. Thomas’ Red Hook. The boat departs West End on Tortola at 11:15 a.m. and returns immediately after the Races. There will also be a later boat for those who want to hang out for a little while longer which will depart St. Thomas at 9:00 p.m. from Red Hook to Tortola.

Please see full official race card.

Finally! So many of us are looking forward to the end of this silly fleabag racing so that we can make progress on building our multimillion dollar state of the art cricket stadium. I heard through the grapevine that we have a Chinese invester who is going to foot most of the bill, but also some of these so-called horsemen have also expressed their interest. Some of them are quite business orientated and realised that this fleabag business is a dead end street. As this is the final race in SCB i may even be there and organise an impromptu exhibition game to get the crowd to the last horse race. Long live Cricket!!!!!!!!!!!!!
