Mapp on Friday April 29, 2016 said he was pleased to see a strong turnout — at least in the carnival square where all main performances traditionally take place (there were complaints of low turnouts throughout the carnival route) — for the Children’s Parade, which has struggled with attendance in recent years.

Now, according to the news report on BVI News online, the Minister is now considering a proposal to have three separate festivals on Tortola which means the Virgin Islands Festival will now officially become a “three part” Tortola Festival celebrated in Road Town, East End and Carrot Bay.

A Carnival is a festive season which occurs immediately before lent, the main events are usually during February. Carnival typically involves a public celebration or parade combining some elements of a circus, mask and public street party. Over the past 30 to 40 years throughout the Caribbean, because Carnivals have become money making event many countries and territories now have their carnival at different times of the year.
