Residents told to desist from burning garbage
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Since the Virgin Islands proceeded on complete lockdown on March 27, 2020, where persons have been restricted from even going to the garbage dumpsters in their communities, some persons have resorted to the inconsiderate and dangerous practice of burning their waste in their yards.

LITTLE HARBOUR, Jost van Dyke, VI - It was just last month February 21, 2018, that the Territory’s Chief Environmental Health Officer, Mr Lionel E. Michael issued a stern warning to the public to “refrain from backyard burning because of the environmental and personal health impact on the community."

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- It seems like conflicting information is coming out from Government authorities on the issue of open burning. Weeks following the destructive hurricanes, Irma and Maria, on September 6 and 21, 2017 respectively, government though the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) had told residents that if they must burn their hurricane debris they should do so at community designated burning locations.
