USVI Gov Mapp wants to be remembered as hard worker who ‘claps back’

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— Governor of the US Virgin Islands (USVI) Kenneth E. Mapp said in an interview with The Consortium on Thursday January 25, 2018, that if he’s disrespected on social media, he’d probably respond in kind, stating that while he sought the role of governor and expected to be criticized, being derided in certain derogatory terms, including racist slights, would not go unanswered.

Mapp’s penchant for using social media to respond to Virgin Islands residents critical of him was on display yet again on Facebook Sunday November 26, 2017, this time in a post on the popular St Thomas group, “What’s Going On, St Thomas”, using lingo known to be an insult and eliciting a torrent of responses, some casual in nature and others expressing shock at his retort.
