Employment dipped in 2012 & 2013 in VI; Were we misled?
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- In 2011 the National Democratic Party of Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith was elected to office and in the two years that followed, 2012 and 2013, Premier Smith was talking up the Virgin Islands (VI) economy and claiming that it was “robust.” The statistics, however, proves that he was misleading the public.
VI residents spend more on housing & utilities than food- Minimum Wage Report
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- While many residents continue to complain about the high cost of food in the Virgin Islands (VI), hence the need to travel to St Thomas, USVI to find cheaper food and goods, the Minimum Wage Advisory Committee Report revealed that money being spent on food is not where most residents income goes.
