Commonwealth EOM recommends fixed election date; Code of Conduct
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Commonwealth Election Observer Mission (EOM) that was here to observe the June 8, 2015 general election in the Virgin Islands submitted its final report on the elections this week. It recommended a number of electoral reforms including an independent elections commission, fixed election dates and political parties subscribing to a Code of Conduct.
Elections Supervisor gives final unofficial election results
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Elections Supervisor Juliette Penn moments ago today June 9 2015 gave the final unofficial result of the elections 2015, which was a confirmation of what had been indicated earlier – that the National Democratic Party has recorded a landslide win at the 2015 polls. The NDP took seven district seats and all four At Large seats and will form an 11 to 2 government in the House of Assembly.
UPDATE: Elections Supervisor dismisses Advance Polling concerns
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Elections Supervisor Mrs Juliette Penn today June 6, 2015 said there were some incidents that candidates raised with her office but emphasised that nothing different is being done now than at the other elections and announced that a total of 886 votes were cast on Friday’s June 5, 2015 Advance Polling, 232 more than in 2011.

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – The elderly, the feeble and those who will be working at polling stations on June 8, 2015 have begun to cast their ballots as advance voting got underway across the territory today June 5, 2015 ahead of Monday’s official polling day.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – After evaluating and tabulating the nomination day process of yesterday May 22, 2015 Supervisor of Elections Mrs Juliette Penn recommended that nominating of candidates for general elections be closed at noon in future.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – 42 candidates have been nominated for the 2015 General Election with 26 for District seats and 16 for Territorial At Large. 43 candidates were nominated for the 2011 General Election.
Some voters disenfranchised due to early elections call- Elections Supervisor
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The early elections date called by Premier Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith has not only caught many persons aspiring to run for political office off guard but has even disenfranchised some persons eligible to vote. Added to that, the Elections Office was also affected by the sudden announcement as it was unable to complete the processing of voter’s identification cards.
