As I grew up in the [British] Virgin Islands many years ago, the norm of the day was to look down one’s nose on another based on his/her family background. Sad to say our parents and many persons of the day they not know better. Of course, we all drink and eat through our mouths and use the bathroom through our anus; however, it is hard to come to the light when we are surrounded with utter darkness.
Wrong cannot conquer right

When I graduated in 1984 and returned to Peebles Hospital to work, my stay there only lasted four months. As a result of my Christian values and my love for people I could not get involved in the wrong things I saw happening there. I refused to do what they wanted me to do. No one can make me do what is wrong. If my conscience condemns me I am not going to do it. I abhor wrong.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Retired civil servant and respected talk show host Mr Doug Wheatley recently recalled that the Virgin Islands did not have a lot of money in the 1950s and 60s but there were lots of love among the people and things were going well, “and people were not hungry because we used to share. That happiness continued into the 70s.”

The above quote by Dr Martin Luther King Jr is so true. There was a murder committed in my village of Long Look the other day. My heart goes out to the family of the victim. We are destroying ourselves because of the hate, bitterness and hostility in our souls. Our society is saturated with hate and as result it is manifesting its ugly face as the violence we are seeing today.
Wheatley calls for peace & love to move country forward!
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- With all the crimes being committed and the high percentage of young people of the Virgin Islands (VI) being incarcerated, Doug Wheatley promotes the solution of love and peace on his radio talk show in an effort to lend a helping hand to the misguided youths of the VI.
