Father arrested after chasing daughter with cutlass

POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI - A Pockwood Pond, Tortola man was taken into police custody for reportedly chasing his daughter while brandishing a cutlass, after he caught her going through his mobile phone.

The incident occurred at around 10:00 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2020, when police received a report of a female being allegedly abused by the man at their home.

According to information coming into Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), for unknown reasons, the female sneaked into her parent's room, where she allegedly took the phone.

Father caught daughter going through phone 

Sources said she was caught by her father while was going through his phone and violating his privacy, and the man retaliated by arming himself with a cutlass and chasing after her.

The female reportedly fell down the stairs in her attempt to evade getting chopped from the man.

Police and EMT were called in and she was taken to the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment.

The father was arrested for being armed with an offensive weapon and for abuse, and was taken to the police station where he was questioned and subsequently released.

Police investigation into the issue continues.

    Wow!!! Wonder what he was protecting so. My daughter have full acesss to their dad's and my phone. Likewise we have access to theirs. All passwords are shared. Hollywood can't get a better story line. Best wishes to the daughter for a speedy recovery.

      That’s nice and all but some people have pics of their husbands and wives (some people travel and work abroad)..and kids dont need to be in your pics or conversations because some are very nosey....You could be messaging family and your close friends.. Kid doesn’t need to be privy to their business..Have their passwords and you and your spouse have eachother’s thats best.

    Okay so this is my theory. The father is cheating on the mother and the daughter tried to go through his phone to get evidence to show the mother. Maybe she might have been planning to WhatsApp the evidence to her phone but the father caught her in the act. That's why he got so mad. Maybe she did find some evidence of his cheating ways.

      Tola have to better because you hardly find bvi people moving down Island to make a living however loads of people from other islands bank up in this little island so that they can feed and provide for their family members. Tola people attend UWI and pay for the education. Before 911 lots of folks from various countries came to BVI simply to escape to the USVI or mainland USA because of tuffer homeland security most of them ends up in the British Virgin Islands and the day this territory stops spending US Money most of them gone. All the talk and more talk some people have, without this territory they will have not one thing sometime 20 of them reside in one little apartment or them run from job to job or working for far less than minimum wage BUT thank God for that rate of exchange
