ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Prom, short for promenade, is a formal black tie dance or gathering of high school students close to the end of their senior year. A time where graduates and their parents ensure that what they wear on this night is a ‘trendsetter’ and ‘showstopper’.

The Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) prom last evening June 30, 2012, was no different.

Whether they appeared in a Hummer, a Limousine or a regular car, everybody stopped and stared, ‘oohhed’ and ‘aahhed’, that is until the next car arrives then your time of fame is over.

The recent graduates of ESHS, were definitely a sight to see, appearing single or in a couple, the color arrangements were simply remarkable.

The trends were vast and tailored to fit every girl, dresses in galore; short dresses, long dress, straight dresses, Kankan dresses and dresses that came alive.

With so many marvelous dresses, one girl and boy definitely took the spotlight longer than the others. With the crowd whispering “who is that” it was definitely a shocker to the students as they all drew near in amazement and glanced from head to toe at the end results of the UMI Fashions Makeover winners Marlene and Joseph Smith.

The dress that was specially ordered for Marlene was absolutely stunning, fitting her built figure, and flowed all the way down to her ankles leaving a short teasing train to dance behind her with every step.

Her hair straightened, nails polished and make up well-done, she was a whole new person about to reveal herself to her friends and class mates.

Her brother pranced in a custom-made, tailored fit suit, sleek and well done with his hair braided.

Virgin Islands News Online was able to capture some of the outfits of graduates who attended the prom.

Enjoy!

Well well, those kids who were nominated for the UMI Makeover came looking wayyyyyy better than those who nominated them! Probably they should have nominated themselves because most of them could have come way better than that!!!!

Look at the beauty in the middle of the top photo! Wow...Hope you all had a great time. Congratulations to all the graduates. Now that prom is over, it's time to enter another phase of life - college or work (not motherhood). Good luck!
