SEA COW’S BAY, Tortola, VI – Fans of the New England Patriots were last evening February 1, 2015 rewarded for their 'patriotism' as their team emerged victorious in the famed Superbowl after defeating the Seattle Seahawks in a comeback win.

Hundreds of fans of both teams gathered at Captain Mulligan's in Sea Cow’s Bay, Tortola for the annual Superbowl party there and the action showed on the numerous large televisions and wide screens was riveting throughout the game.

However, the game was not the only thing that the fans enjoyed. Known for their over the top advertisements, this year’s Superbowl was no different with lots of big money advertisements for which companies shell out top dollar for a spot, given the level of viewership that the Superbowl attracts.

Fans were also blown away by the dynamic halftime show performance by pop sensation Katy Perry, who rocked the stage not just with her singing but combined with the lighting effects and theatrics that made for a super halftime show. Perry was joined by rocker Lenny Kravitz and rapper Missy Elliott.

At Captain Mulligan's, the fans made their choices clear as to which teams they were backing. They wore the players’ jerseys and sported other memorabilia.

One man said that he was watching though he wasn’t a big fan of the sport. He said that he was backing the New England Patriots since they were not far from him as he is from New Jersey.

A woman, Lianne LeTendre, proudly declared that she is backing the New England Patriots. “I’m for the Patriots. Can’t you see the flag and everything?” she asked, pointing to her colleague who was draped in a New England Patriots flag.

“They are kinda tied right now but they are definitely going to win. They are going to win, absolutely, no question about it,” she predicted. And she was right, as the New England Patriots emerged the winners eventually.

While Captain Mulligans boasted the largest turnout, other venues also had Superbowl parties. Among them were the Wonky Dog on Anegada which had a fair turnout of persons to view the big game and also Club Ecstasy on Virgin Gorda which also saw a fair crowd coming to be part of the largest football game of the year.

Patriots beat the Seahawks in dramatic finale

According to a news report on BBC.com, the New England Patriots overcame the 'deflate-gate' row to beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 in the Super Bowl.

The report said that the Patriots are being investigated over allegations they under-inflated balls in beating the Indianapolis Colts to reach the showpiece event.

But, despite trailing 24-14, they rallied to become the first team in Super Bowl history to trail by double digits in the second half and win.

The Patriots took the lead with two minutes left and held on for victory.
