ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The much anticipated second leg of the historic Triple Crown is not until February 19, 2012, however, horse-racing fans are encouraged to make early purchase of tickets for the boat ride to St. Croix in order to facilitate an early take off from Tortola and a smooth transition from ferry to on land transportation in St. Croix.

The previous Virgin Islands Horse Owners’ Association has announced a special low travel package from Tortola to St Croix for the second leg on Sunday February 19. For just $160.00, round trip tickets are now available, which includes tickets on the Road Town Fast Ferry and also transportation to the Randall Doc James Race Track in St. Croix.

According to a spokesperson from the organising body responsible for the boat ride, the ferry will depart Tortola at 8 a.m. since post time is expected to be 12 p.m. She said it is hoped that persons would get their tickets early so that there would be no hold up during check in and that they would be able to properly organise the transportation even before reaching St. Croix.

Early purchase of tickets would also determine whether a second vessel would be needed.

She said so far persons have already started to get their tickets hence cashing in on the special of $150 per ticket for the first 50 persons. The vessel can accommodate some 149 persons.

Once on board, entertainment would be provided by a local disc jockey.

The objective of the boat ride, the spokesperson said, is to afford local horseracing fans the opportunity to view the favourite sport of the Virgin Islands - Horseracing, and to be able to follow the historic Triple Crown. She noted too that alternative transportation to St. Croix might be difficult since the US Territory would also be having its annual Agriculture Fair during that same weekend.

The first leg of the Triple Crown was won by Slevin of St. Croix and it would be interesting to see if Tortola horses Good Prospecting and East End Tap would be able to hit back on foreign soil.

Meanwhile, for more information regarding tickets to St. Croix persons can call 544-4046, 443-3702 or 499-0196.

If you going to watch cricket you going to need at least two of those boats. If you are going to watch fleabag races better to charter a couple of Kayaks as nobody is going to waste their time with that.

Johnny something must be wrong with you...you guys come in our Land and our culture and want to dictate what will happen.....but for your information Horse Racing is much bigger sport in the USVI and BVI than Cricket...so no one will need a boat to watch cricket........so get a life Johnny

Johny, you're very correct...The Busta Cup Cricket a few years ago was the biggest sporting event the Virgin Islands (USVI & BVI) ever witnessed.

Why is the previous Association still doing things???? They need to go and sit down and face the facts they are no longer there. The New Association was looking to do something like this but was told it was already being done. I would love to know what the old association plans to do with the money raised from the boat ride?

The way I hear it, there were different color "OFFICIAL" bands that were not handed over to the new Committee being sold on the day of the Triple Crown races. Now read between the lines, and try to figure out why they only made about two thousand dollars!!!!!!!!!!

How come all of a sudden there is talk about Misappropiate fund.. The old Association handed over more than 5,000 dollars to the new committee... Now there is talk about stolen wrist bands. If I know Tanya, the previous treasurer, I know she got the receipts of what wrist band were ordered and turned over to the new Association. Any thiefing going on its on the new members

Well sah What are you trying to say that the past commiette was selling different color bands well if I was seeing right I didnt see none of the past association members selling "OFFICIAL BANDS". What I saw you need to inquire from some of your peoples (workers) what was taking place on that day. Stop blaming others and find the truth. YOU ALL JUST HATING ON THOSE GUY BECAUSE THEY MAKING THINGS HAPPEN P.S. you all need to move on and stop hating on each other why not work together?

stop the madness I catch what your talking about with their people. They were to focus on their entertainment that they were lacking in resources at the gates. Stop making excuses and focus on the weakness that needs to be strenghten for the next race date. Try and come together as one to improve horse racing in the Virgin Islands I DON'T CARE I WILL BE ON THAT BOAT RIDE CONGRAT TO THE SISTER "GOOD LOOKING OUT FOR THE BVI"
