ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Grieving the loss of his son, Kenroy Davis, who was found dead with gunshot wounds in St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands on March 25, 2014, Mr Elroy A. Davis said that he felt sidelined by both the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and the Police Force of the US Virgin Islands.

RVIPF had issued a wanted bulletin for the man who was last seen on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 driving a stolen vehicle near Scatliffe Alley by officers of the Criminal Investigations Department.

According to detectives from the Major Crime Bureau in St Thomas, officers responding to a report of shots fired found Kenroy Davis in the vicinity of Building 14, Tutu Housing Community, unresponsive with gunshot wounds to his body.

Speaking exclusively with Virgin Islands News Online Mr Davis and his wife Ms Desrie I. Davis related they learnt of the shooting death of their son after being contacted by a daughter Lorraine Davis, who resides in St Thomas. Relating what was told to them, they said Lorraine was alerted by a caller that her brother was found riddled with bullets.

“On her way to the scene is when she received a call from the police over there to come and identify the body, that is what she told us,” said Mrs Davis.

“If anybody got a child that is 100% good I want to meet them, we all as parents have challenges with our children no child is perfect,” said Mr Davis as he expressed much concern about never being told by the RVIPF that his son was wanted in connection with any crime locally.

The man said that he frequently spoke with his son who he said had migrated to St Thomas to live with his wife who is a born American. “It’s less than two weeks ago that we spoke to him, he was the usual Kenroy happy and everything ok,” recalled the couple.

They confirmed that they were told by Kenroy’s sibling that the police there were to have the postmortem conducted yesterday April 1, 2014 but up to post time they had no further word as to if that was done as scheduled.

He said despite what issues may surround their son, they would be bringing the body back to Tortola for burial. “No police better not come to me now because it’s too late, they never one day said he was a wanted man to me, I live here all the time and suddenly it all over the news that he was a wanted man, like it was some murder or some big crime they were claiming, wanted in connection of a stolen vehicle! Tell me something, I am his father, he ain’t fall from heaven,” lamented the grieving father.

Contacted yesterday afternoon about the allegations, Public Relations Officer of the RVIPF Ms Diane Drayton said that it is procedure that if any person is wanted for any crime the relevant investigating department usually contacts persons they feel can provide any information to assist in the investigation.

ofcourse you knew your son was wanted... his face was in all the newspapers and newsite as a wanted man... you know he was wanted by the police... yes the police might not have came to you but you knew that your son was wanted... we need not to be so cover up for our children.... but as you say its to late and It makes no sence that the police bother you about it now. if they do, jus let them put the body under arrest. yes there is no perfect children and we as parent are to love our kids dispite there turn outs but we cant promote there wrong doings. yes he was a nice person, but it doesnt change the fact that he did crimes. So expect the negative talk cause he was wanted for criminal acts. in the public eyes he is a wanted criminal but in ur eyes he is a good son... FACE REALITY AND EXPECT THE NEGATIVE FEED BACKS. all you as a family need to do is refect on his good memories and leave the public to refect on what the know from the new. RIP Kenroy

WTF?? The man's picture and story was plastered all over the news, what nonsense he talking about he didn't know he was wanted? Just like the sister called them about the murder, she could've called about him being wanted as she would've more than likely seen the story in the news. So he just happened to 'relocate' to St THomas around the same time he was wanted? Boo think everybody is a.. or what? RIP to the young man and I know it must hurt, but chatting s..t won't bring him back or change anything. Stop looking someone to blame and embrace your kids NOW! Why should RVIPF personally tell you that your son, a grown a.. man, an adult, is wanted? It was all over the news and everybody knew it. Man up and admit that you probably could have done more for that boy. He had issues from long ago but was left to roam up and down the place. Stop trying to blame others for your shortfalls man. All kids have some issue or the other but it's up to us to keep pressing on and stop blaming others. If it ain't Church, is Government, Police, School or Teacher fault. It's never our fault. nonsense.

I agree with you!! he knew his son was wanted by the police. But why is he coming with this story now, the guys that killed his son was caught, he should be giving the police praise for doing a good job.

The guy was an adult. If the police were doing the job yes the should've inquired with the guy's family to assist themselves in the investigation but they had no obligation to tell the father that his son was wanted. He was a man not a minor.

“If anybody got a child that is 100% good I want to meet them, we all as parents have challenges with our children no child is perfect,” said Mr Davis

That is the problem right there, parents always find excuses for their children. That statement alone tells that he knew his son was a trouble maker.

Yup, it's like "Son, what the hell is going on here, you got a 'D' in Math, what the hell? That means you have to repeat this class!"..Son says:" Yes Mom, but, but, but, Joey got an 'F' Mom..he got an F, I did better than Joey!"....

'He migrated to St. Thomas to live with his wife who is a born American? ' Was she living in the Project? Ppl need to stop going to USVI to live in projects; Not one of them safe. Gunshots daily in Bovoni, Tutu, Pearson Garden and others. These places need to be bulldozed just like the one in Donoe was done. If you are progressive and want to own something, don't go in project to live.

It ain't the projects that make people bad,it's the people who make the projects bad.

I am just wondering... did his dad have any idea where his son was from 2012? Had he had ANY contact with his son from the time the RVIPF wanted to "talk" to him? Did he make any efforts to contact the RIVPF re his son's whereabouts or assist them in anyway to resolve the matter they were investigating? Just wondering!!

The young man made mistakes. Who didn't. His mistakes might not have been mine, and the mistakes of the other bloggers might not have been his. We are loosing so many young men, some of whom were trained very well too, so don't be fooled that the negative is only for others and not for us. When we see stuff like this, we don't push our feet on someone who is already down, no matter who it is. Mr. Davis, I don't know you, I didn't know your son, but at the end of the day, he was your son, regardless of the mistakes he made and regardless of the mistakes you might have made in raising him. The Lord who we all claim to know pardoned the thief on the cross next to him. I will not join the cruel comments and call karma on myself. The non-compassionate bloggers might not have a name but we all have to be careful, lest we fall. I hope your son had time to call on God for mercy before he drew is last breath. I am sorry for your loss and may you and your family be comforted at this trying time.

Even if the police came to you, you would be here saying they are harassing you.
    Poor police, cannot win.
