ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - He is most well-known for his hit ‘Everything I Own’ among many other hits as he has several albums and was beating the airwaves even from the days when Bob Marley was just emerging in the music industry.

At the time Ken Boothe was the more popular of the two reggae artistes.

Boothe is a Jamaican vocalist known for his distinctive vibrato and timbre. He achieved an international reputation as one of Jamaica's finest vocalists through a series of crossover hits that appealed to both reggae fans and mainstream audiences.

He was born the name Kenneth George Boothe but stuck with the stage name ‘Ken Boothe’. His music has taken him around the world blazing stages large and small in countries of different languages but the one place his has never visited up until yesterday April 10, 2014 was the Virgin Islands.

One may wonder how come a man of such famous music and personality managed to allow nature’s little secret to pass him by for so many years. That’s the very question he was asking himself yesterday evening when he sat with Virgin Islands News Online for an exclusive interview. “I have never been in these parts of the world before and it’s such an amazingly beautiful place, indeed it holds some of the finest secrets in the world, I am here just one day so far and love every moment of it.” “It’s like breaking new grounds so it’s a pleasure for me to come here,” he added.

Ken Boothe is set to give the Virgin Islands a treat on Saturday April 12, 2014 when he would be a featured guest artiste at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College. There, he will be doing what he had done being in the entertainment industry for some 51 years now, sharing nothing but love to his fans and the new friends and fans that he is likely to make on this virgin trip to the Territory.

In his few moments with this news site he spoke of some of his deepest values as it relates to the evolution of music over the years. “Music is love,” he said while noting that in some sectors singers have deviated from the real meaning of music. “Wherever I journey I make sure that my fellow men come first then the music,” he said.

He alluded to the changing in trends of selling music as the masses have now evolved from purchasing CDs to that of downloading via the internet, watching on Youtube and other social media formats.

“Making money and selling your love through your music is now best done by live performances on stage, I am not afraid of that; I am going with the tides and I know my fans will love what I have for them even more.”

He said that tomorrow the Virgin Islands will have a taste of the best of his best music that would keep the flavor in their mouths causing to want more.

Ken Boothe’s maiden trip to the VI was made possible by his manager Mr Nathan T. Cowan, proprietor of the entertainment booking agency ‘Talent Inc.’ and ‘Glory Music Booking and Marketing Agency.’

It was indeed an awesome showcase of musical talent and entertainment and was worth every bit of the entrance fee. The crowd didn't even want him to leave the stage at the end of his performance. He is very fit and energetic for his age with a smooth, melodious voice, a humble personality and so much more that is lacking in musical artists of today. I am so happy that I went.
