ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A Long Bush resident has taken to the airwaves to complain about the lack of water in her community and vowed not to relent until the service was fully restored.

The woman, who gave her name as Long Bush resident Eileen Baronville called into the Speak Out BVI show aired on June 16, 2015 on ZBVI 780 AM.

“I am really sorry that I have to come on your show with what I am coming on with but from two days gone I am out of water. I am running a day care and I can’t even get a drop of water. I went and I asked the people and they told me that they were not aware that the water from Long Bush had gone... something went wrong and up to now there is no water,” said the caller.

The woman complained that she has to be buying water for her various uses. “I am sorry that I have to come on your show with this but it is something that I must get done.”

Speaking on the show, host Doug Wheatley acknowledged it was a problem, saying that he heard other persons from East End and other areas complaining bitterly about the water not being available for several hours and causing great inconvenience to people.

“I don’t know what the answer is or what the problem is but I am sure that those who are listening and who are involved will be able to make a statement and let us know what is going on.

The woman said that it is hard when she has to barely use the water she has because she does not know when again it will be made available.

“There are children in the place and this kind of behaviour we have been told that we are going to get good service and I intend to have good service. And this is what I am saying. I am not going to shut my mouth for anything. Whether simple or great I am going to talk,” she said.

Efforts to reach Director of the Water and Sewerage Department Pauline Scatliffe-Leonard for an update proved futile.

Bi-water has water enough water for the whole of Tortola. Your present Govt. would not put down the pipes that the water can flow to peoples homes. Blame the Govt., you people elected.
