ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A usual critic of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government led by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith, talk show host Edmund G. Maduro recently had commendations for the Premier.

On his talk show of October 20, 2016 on ZBVI 780 AM, Mr Maduro took a sudden turn to compliment a move by Premier Smith as it relates to the announcement of public consultations for constitutional review.

“I know there are people who would not like to say what I am saying here now. I would like to highly commend the Premier for his suggestion of creating a group to study and to go around and talk to the people about how and what we should move forward with our constitution,” said Mr Maduro.

He was talking specifically as it relates to the powers of His Excellency the Governor and the powers that should be in the hands of elected representatives. “It is not a bad suggestion at all because that’s the only thing that could be happening as we go along, that is reducing the powers in the hands of the UK and making our own people more responsible for the duties of the people,” said Mr Maduro.

He continued, “Let us be honest we must always praise people when they need praise and in good governance you would have the right of expression to in-fact let the people of the day and the elected representatives know when things are not going right.”

The talk show host said that as a people we need to love each other as he sees it as the only way to build integrity in terms of good governance. “We must not forget that the love of money is the root of all evil and that greed destroys a nation.”

Never forget that Mr Maduro contends that has a constitutional right to do the laundry from charter boats! He knows things that are beyond the rest of us and we need to listen to his radio show.

Mr. Maduro is in favor of reducing the powers of the UK, yet at the same time he is in favor of the governor(the UK) having the power to force the government to report their finances. Which one do you want Mr. Maduro? We can't have both. If the governor didn't have the power, we would never have heard about government financial mismanagement. If we do not want British control we have to come up with a system of checks and balances or the government will run amok.
