East End man, Dion Thomas charged for unlawful possession of firearm

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Crown on Thursday August 6, 2018, charged 39-year-old, Dion Thomas, of East End, Tortola, with the unlawful possession of a firearm, since he is not the holder of a valid license.

Thomas—as had been accurately reported by Virgin Islands News Online—was picked up by police in the August 6, 2018, ‘Rise and Shine Tramp’ with a gun.

He was held during a routine search for cannabis—as the bands were between Scotia Bank and Administration Drive, in Road Town—when police ranks discovered the un-licenced weapon.

Police subsequently obtained a search warrant for the man’s home, where ammunition was also found.

He has since, also been charged with the unlawful possession of explosives.

Mr Thomas, was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) at Balsum Ghut, on the main island of Tortola, pending his next court appearance.
