ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands News Online has been reliably informed that Earl Skelton, who was convicted of drug trafficking but later acquitted, died suddenly on Sunday, February 9, 2014.

Skelton reportedly collapsed at a Skelton Hill residence sometime after 11PM and was rushed to the Peebles Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

While it has been suspected that he may have died of a heart attack, it was reported that authorities and family members are awaiting the results of an autopsy report on the deceased man.

Skelton, a Virgin Islander, was arrested with three others and served time in a US prison for allegedly operating a complex cocaine and crack ring on St. Thomas and St. John in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) in 2011.

He was acquitted of the charges on July 26, 2013 after spending some two years in a US prison.

The only discription of this young man vino can find is that he was a convicted drug dealer? If you can't find anything else to discribe him then don't put it as news.

What we do is not who we are! So if a nurse cleans those who are sick she is a S$%t cleaner? No that is part of who she is. She may also be a loving mother to her family, a community advocate, a big sister to a young lady who has no example to follow, A teacher to her kids. The list goes on

While the American public have a very positive perception of the Kenny's they can also be defined as modern day drug dealers/ Traffickers. They smuggled alchol during the prohibition. on another note they passed historic civil rights bills that created more equality for African americans.

Don't judge maybe in time he would have become a positive force in our community. However, we will never know that so allow his family and friends to grieve in peace. Worry not SKA the hatred you send out into the universe will come right back at you Karma Karma...

If VINO did not remind us who this man was, how would we know? Now after reading the story I remember. It is a sad time when any young person dies, but don't blame the media for informing the public who they were. If anyone wants to speak kindly of him, they will.

More importantly they ought to remember he was acquitted and not refer to it period.

Vino, you can do better then this, the mistakes we make in life should not be used to define this young man's entire life. He was not born a trafficker. If he has served his time then he has paid for his mistake. Allow his family to deal with their grief without this very negative title.

You have defined his entire life by one unfortunate bad decision he has made

VINO, VINO, VINO - This young man's death has nothing to do with what he was formerly accused of, why make your headline so boldly "former accused drug trafficker". Come on man. Thank God its only the Good Lord who can unstain us, because leave it to man, we are indeed humbug thru eternity. Why uproot his past. I for one never condemn Earl or any young person for anything. In speaking with him recently, I felt proud that he was focusing on being the best dad to his daughter and getting his life back together. My sympathies to his daughter, his parents and loved ones.

To be quite frank, his death is only in the news because of the drug trafficking accusations. I'm just being honest. People die of natural causes all the time around here but you don't see it in the news.

You jacks......Vino placed the news history about him for folk to know who it is exactly. I didnt know who he was until I read the history about him...then I remembered!! Yall does take things soo personally!!! Cause its yall friend. Why not say that about others who have a rap sheet published to identify them. SMH!!

If he meant something to you, you would have known. If you didn't know who he was during his lifetime, why is he important for you to know now that he's deceased. He and I are not 'friends', but we knew each other and said a courteous hello. People worldwide are going to be born every day and people worldwide are going to expire every day. We in the BVI have to stop letting the bereavements of others be our business and let families mourn their losses in peace.

He is gone if you did not know him what diff does it make move on, you will never get to know him. You cannot define a person one thing and one thing only. Maybe long before he was a drug dealer he was a son to a mother and father. A good worker to a company, a brother to a sister. I am certain he was many things name them all or name none!

What makes you thing you know him now? Did you came over for dinner by his house this weekend? The reality is you don't and never will know him.
