BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services (VIF&RS) had to be called in today, February 17, 2020 as smoke from a dumpster fire in the vicinity of the Virgin Islands Technical School (VISTS) was allegedly affecting students and teachers as well as nearby residents.

It is unclear how the garbage in the dumpster caught afire.

The smoke; however, can especially be a concern for persons who are asmathic or suffering from allergies.

A young man was seen with a small garden hose trying to put out the fire moments before Fire and Rescue Services came in and finished the job.

Chief Fire Officer, Mr Zebalon A. McLean later confirmed the incident to our newsroom.
