VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Word reaching this news site from our Team of Reporters across the Virgin Islands is that National Democratic Party (NDP) Ninth District candidate Dr Hubert O’Neal was voted out as President of the BVI Sports Fishing Association at a special meeting held last Thursday May 28, 2015.

This information was today June 4, 2015 confirmed by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Donnell D. A. Flax, who said Dr O’Neal was not present at Thursday's meeting but was subsequently served a letter concerning the latest developments.

Mr Flax, speaking on behalf of the association, explained that the move by members came as most, if not all, were convinced that Dr O’Neal’s involvement in politics at this level would render him incapable of effectively serving the organisation, especially at the level of president.

“What I can say to you is that the letter he was served said that [it would be] a conflict of interest in him running [as an electoral candidate],” said Mr Flax. He further explained that members were concerned that if Dr O'Neal wins the Ninth District seat he would not be able to effectively serve the organisation.

Dr O'Neal was informed of concerns

Flax said Dr O’Neal was informed prior to last Thursday's meeting of their concerns and he had reportedly indicated that he was going to try to attend the meeting of last week. However, Mr Flax said Dr O’Neal was a no-show at the association’s meeting.

“He had a campaign meeting that same night and he did not make our meeting and that made members' concerns even stronger and so we voted him out as president, and he was sent a letter informing him.”

Asked why the organisation didn’t wait until after the June 8, 2015 General Elections to make their decision, Mr Flax said, “It was the committee’s decision not to wait because even before the elections now, we are being affected.”

Since Dr O’Neal did not make it to the last meeting of the association, Mr Flax said the association was not able to put the option of resigning to him.

Mr Chad Emanuel, who was the Vice President, is now serving in the position of President. Other members making up the Executive Board are Chris Cooke who moved up to the position of Vice President, Treasurer David Straker and Secretary Adriana Bridgewater.

Efforts to reach Dr O’Neal for a comment were not successful as of post time.

What you do to people can come back and hurt you.
I think we are getting carried away. Why now? As big people we all need to sit back and take time and evaluate things properly. You see every thing in life is not we can get it goes beyond that. Who knows what will be the outcome of the election but we quick to jump to conclusion.

Last election it was said that the people in the district are idiots because they voted strong for the veteran politician Hon. R.T. O'Neal, so I do not know if they believe the people forgot what was said......on Monday the idiots according to them, will vote him out along with the NDP cr**ks!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, we have some strong VIP supporters on this committee and would do anything. Sorry somebody scared and causing trouble to make others cast their votes to VIP. Good strategy.
