‘Don’t despair; you will be hearing from us’- Opposition Leader

- Hon Julian Fraser RA tells Morning Ride Show
The Opposition team of Leader Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) and senior Virgin Islands Party member Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) have come in for criticism from certain sections of the public for reportedly being passive in the House of Assembly and not representing the public on pressing issues such as the controversial National Health Insurance (NHI) scheduled to come on stream on January 1, 2016 and the ongoing delays and over runs at the multi-million dollar BVI Ports Authority project. 'As I said the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) will be on track rather soon et cetera and we are going into the holiday season now and then budget time is coming up but tell the people not to despair and I can tell them myself. I can tell you that the Opposition will be doing its work. You will be hearing from us,' Hon Julian Fraser RA said on the Morning Ride Show on Zrod 103.7 FM with host Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart on November 3, 2015. Photo: VINO/File

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Leader of the Opposition and Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) has told critics not to “despair” and that the Opposition will be doing its work.

The Opposition team of Hon Fraser and senior Virgin Islands Party member Hon Andrew A.

“As I said the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) will be on track rather soon et cetera and we are going into the holiday season now and then budget time is coming up but tell the people not to despair and I can tell them myself. I can tell you that the Opposition will be doing its work. You will be hearing from us,” Hon Fraser said on the Morning Ride Show on Zrod 103.7 FM with host Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart on November 3, 2015.

It remains unclear, however, if the wounds have healed between Hon Fraser and Hon Fahie following their fight for the Opposition Leader’s post.

Following the 2015 general election that saw the VIP defeated by the ruling NDP in a 11 to 2 margin, Hon Fahie led a  ‘coup d’état’ against Hon Fraser. Some seven (7) members who ran with the Virgin Islands Party, including Hon Fahie, signed a petition to the Governor for Hon Fahie to be named Opposition Leader.

After the two Opposition Members could not reach an agreement, the UK appointed Governor John S. Duncan OBE appointed Hon Fraser to the post.

From what I am hearing I advise that Fraser better learn to sit down and discuss matters from having a one man show.

I said the same thing when VIP had our government 11 to 2. This looks familiar. A fall before a rise.

NDP has destroyed this country and bankrupt it and have put the majority of people to sleep that they can't see it. What a rude awaking we are going to get as a result of the NDP's poor leadership. Sigh.

Seems to me they are sore losers, and can't even agree to disagree months after the election so they can get on with their jobs. There's no tangible effort in evidence to re-organize the VIP. The next election result will be the same. VIP will be in disarray and not be credible, leaving people not much other option. Plus, these guys still get their salaries and allowances whether they do anything or not. Very poor example of leadership IMHO.
