‘Do not depart from the teachings of your school/parents’ – Hon Myron V. Walwyn

“Things will be different to what you’ve grown accustomed to. But my advice to you is very simple…do not depart from the teachings that you have received at this school and do not depart from the teachings of your parents," said Minister for Education and Culture Hon Myron V. Walwyn to the Enis Adams Primary School graduating class of 2014. Photo: VINO
“This journey that you’ve embarked upon from primary school to secondary school – and I believe most of you will be attending the Elmore Stoutt High School – can be a daunting one. You are moving from a very small school to a school that has over 1,300 students,” Hon Walwyn said. Photo: VINO

HUNTUM’S GHUT, Tortola, VI – Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Myron V. Walwyn charged the 2014 graduating class of the Enis Adams Primary School not to depart from the teachings of their Alma Mater or that of their parents as they prepare to take the onward step to high school.

The Minister was delivering remarks to the graduating students and to the audience gathered at the Church of God of Prophecy in Huntum’s Ghut on Friday June 27, 2014.

“This journey that you’ve embarked upon from primary school to secondary school – and I believe most of you will be attending the Elmore Stoutt High School – can be a daunting one. You are moving from a very small school to a school that has over 1,300 students,” he said.

“You will be in a new environment…you will meet new people; some good and some good to keep from,” he said to peals of laughter from the audience. “[It will be] a new orientation, where you go to the teacher’s classroom rather than the teacher coming to you,” said Hon Walwyn.

“Things will be different to what you’ve grown accustomed to. But my advice to you is very simple…do not depart from the teachings that you have received at this school and do not depart from the teachings of your parents. If you follow these two simple pieces of advice I think you will be fine,” said Hon Walwyn.

Leave the man alone. When you can do better, then talk. Always see the good in people. Put yourself in his shoes.
