Nanny Cay, Tortola, VI – This Saturday, June 8, concert goers in the Virgin Islands will be treated to the energetic sounds of Divinity Roxx, the former bassist of Grammy Award winning, platinum selling artist, Beyoncé Knowles.

Divinity Roxx mixes an eclectic style of music steeped in elements of rhythm and blues, hip-hop, funk, soul, and rock. The Atlanta, Georgia native has performed on stage with world-renowned artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, George Michael, and Destiny’s Child. In 2006, Divinity joined Beyoncé’s all-female band as Musical Director and bassist. She had the opportunity to tour the world and is a featured in Beyoncé’s current DVD collection, The Beyoncé Experience (2008), I Am…Sasha Fierce (2010), and I Am…Yours (2010).

Divinity released her solo debut album, The Roxx Boxx Experience. Commenting on the album the artists said, “I like that my album doesn’t sound like anything else we put it up against.” She went on to say, “I like that it is honest; it is bold. It is edgy and hard! Any good art expresses itself beyond itself. This mashing up of rock and hip hop allows me to do just that, express the epitome of myself, the whole of myself, the musician and the writer, the performer and the artist.”
The concert will be the second in a three part series hosted by the boutique style concert series, Bayside Rhythms.

Producer of the events, Wasi Philbert said this weekend’s performance will reflect the diversity in artists that Bayside Rhythms plans to bring to Virgin Islands music lovers. “We realise that there is an opportunity to give music lovers in the Virgin Islands what they have been asking for, a mix of contemporary R&B music, but also more jazz, blues, calypso, roots reggae and even rock and roll, which actually just reflects the assortment of people living in the BVI.”

Also the producer of the now popular Love City Live! concert in St. John, Philbert said the concert series is a chance for residents in both the United States and British Virgin Islands to support their economies. “Everyone loves music but sometimes it’s hard for us to travel to get good live entertainment, so we hope that these concerts will bring that type of entertainment to people in the Virgin Islands while we encourage our neighbours to come in and support what we have going on here in the BVI.”

Rounding out Saturday night’s performance will be local artists B’More, Type of Toad and Hot Sauce Band. Concert tickets can be purchased from UMI Fashions, D’Best Cup Coffee Shop and Captain Mulligan’s Bar for $25. Concert gates open at 6p.m. sharp at a transformed Captain Mulligans venue in Nanny Cay. Sponsors are Finlandia Vodka, Cruzan Rum and Road Town Wholesale.

The first concert hosted by Bayside Rhythms in May, featured jazz trumpeter Joey Summerville and performances by local musicians, Kamau Georges and Dalan Vanterpool. After this weekend’s performance, the final concert will be held on July 6. That concert will feature the reggae ambassadors, Third World as they celebrate their 40th anniversary as a group.
