ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Digicel, the Virgin Island’s biggest and fastest data network, is making significant progress in the building and implementing its new LTE network. The company is now finalizing its territory-wide build out of the LTE network to deliver unprecedented speeds making it the Virgin Island's fastest and most reliable LTE network. Digicel customers can look forward to 10 times faster speeds, when the company enables the network within the coming months.

“We’re focused on always delivering the most advanced mobile network technology that fits our customers’ lifestyles and budgets. The build and activation of our LTE network is a major step in this direction. We are building a network for the future!” declared Digicel CEO, Mr Robert C. Mayo-Smith.

LTE is the very latest in mobile technology and will allow Digicel the capability of delivering more mobile data at the fastest speeds to connect the growing range of Internet-enabled devices while running faster than some fixed broadband connections.

“This means that our customers can do more with quicker downloads and uploads and enjoy no buffering while watching videos in High Definition and glitch-free live streaming of their favorite events – all while on the go,” Mayo-Smith added.

The investment in the cutting edge technology and speeds sends the clearest signal that Digicel is committed to providing technology and innovation that supports the Virgin Islands’ growth. “We are responding to the technological needs of businesses, particularly the financial services industry. We are future-proofing a network that can manage the growing consumer demand for faster, more reliable internet connectivity," said Mayo- Smith.

With faster speeds come a fresh array of LTE devices and value-packed plan options for postpaid and prepaid customers. “We will keep our current pricing and continue to offer the best value and in addition, we will develop new plan options that will compliment and fully explore the potential of our new network," assured Mayo-Smith.

Digicel’s LTE network will operate on the 700 MHz band which is globally recognised as the best spectrum for deploying of LTE technology because of its superiority in building coverage and securing wider signal reach when compared with similar frequencies.

“Digicel is experienced in delivering LTE across the Caribbean and we will deliver the same here in the Virgin Islands. We have planned extensively for this, and Digicel customers will experience a seamless transition. When we flip the switch, we will be ready and fully equipped to serve every person in the Virgin Islands who desires the best LTE experience possible,” Mayo-Smith concluded.

Customers will be kept abreast of the LTE rollout with regular communication via Digicel's social media pages, through our live radio programmes on ZBVI, ZROD and ZVCR and press via our continuous press updates. Customers are also encouraged to visit our website at www.digicelbvi.com or feel free to ask any of our in-store representatives for more information.
