ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Nearly 60 boys and girls decked out in red Digicel Jumpstart vests were introduced to basketball NBA style today Friday September 2, 2016 when the Digicel NBA and Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS) Jumpstart Clinic got underway in the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

The boys and girls are gathered to begin a journey which over the next three days could see seven of them (five boys and 2 girls) selected to attend the Digicel NBA Elite Camp, which also being hosted by Digicel here in the Virgin Islands (VI).

For now though, the group selected by Jason A. Edwin will have a more immediate focus on impressing Coach Troy Justice.

"We want to see improvement right through from day one to day three," he commented.

"It is also real important that when we put them through the drills, they are applying it right away. It is a selection camp, so we are looking for a high skill level, but also the sportsmanship, the teamwork, the attitude. We are looking for complete basketball players, but also coachability."

It is the first time girls have been included in the Jumpstart programme and two will definitely be selected to attend the Elite Camp in October.
