Digicel (BVI) presents cheque for Hon Fraser Save the Seed B/Ball League rings
Digicel handed over a cheque last week to officials of the League for the purchase of the 2014 Championship team rings.
The cheque was received on May 18, 2015 by Assistant Commissioner of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball League Byron J. Hodge, who is also coordinating the purchase of the rings.

Meanwhile, Dicgicel (BVI) CEO Conor Looney said he was happy that Digicel (BVI) was able to support this basketball league and pledged his commitment to providing rings to the 2015 Champions. Mr Looney confirmed that Digicel remains committed to “giving back to the Virgin Islands community, whether in the areas of sports, education, youth development or health for our record in the Virgin Islands’ market can attest to this”.
Mr Looney also congratulated the 2014 Championship team Bayside Blazers and said he himself and the staff of Digicel are “looking forward to the 2015 Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball season” which is scheduled to kick off in August.
The rings will be handed over to the team at the opening ceremony for the League on August 15, 2015 at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom.
Digicel officials will be on hand to assist in the presenting of the 16 rings to 12 players, 2 coaches, a manager and scorer.
Bayside Blazers excited
Bayside Blazers’ Head Coach Rhennie O. Phipps said his team remains, “excited about receiving the rings” and that “it is a reward for hard work, dedication and passion”. Mr Phipps said the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed League was a lesson in, “once you are prepared you can achieve your goals, whether in sports, on the job, or life in general”.
The Championship Coach said he is also looking forward to the 2015 Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed season as Bayside Blazers will be working hard again to “earn another Championship title”.
Registration continues
The public is reminded that registration continues until July 1, 2015. Teams needing rosters for both junior and senior divisions can contact the League’s Commissioner Rajah A. Smith at 340-1546 or Assistant Commissioner Mr Hodge at 542-8300. All teams are open to both male and female players.
The Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball League was founded in 2013 by Hon Julian Fraser RA, Third District Representative and Bishop John I. Cline, founder of the Save the Seed Energy Centre, and Bishop of the New Life Baptist Church, in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.
