Road Town, Tortola, VI - Digicel BVI today announced their continued support of local talent with the confirmation of a variety of sponsorship agreements.

Music is an integral part of the Digicel philosophy and via the ‘Search for a Brand Ambassador’ competition in November last year uncovered local talent K’Rell Lewis.  This publicly supported vote was run throughout the networks 4G launch and at the launch event in Road Town K’Rell was announced as the winner.  He will now represent Digicel throughout 2013 as he strives to develop his music career further.

In sporting sponsorship, Digicel is proud to announce a new partnership with Squash Professional Joe Chapman.  Since joining the PSA World Tour in 2012 Joe Chapman has risen almost 300 places and is now ranked 130th in the world.

A proud VIslander, Joe began playing squash in the Virgin Islands which gave the opportunity of playing Varsity University Sport in the US and allowed the move to a professional career in the game.  He has been training locally with Joe Kneipp since his graduation from Rochester University and will play in twelve professional tournaments this year in preparation for his appearance at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.

Chapman stated "All athletes seek to work with companies to create a mutually beneficial relationship. Digicel is a quality brand and share the same goal as me – to grow, improve and be the best in our fields."

Education is integral to development and when Robert Winston appeared on stage at the 4G launch in November he danced his way into the hearts of those that attended the event.  Such was the impression that the energetic 4-year-old received a donation, which was made to his educational development from the company.

Digicel BVI CEO, Declan Cassidy announced the various sponsorships by stating ‘At Digicel we strive to support all areas of the community and these sponsorship announcements reflect that. Our wish is to see talented people develop and be the best that we can be and as such we wish all of our new sponsors a very successful 2013’.  Cassidy continued, ‘We will continue to support our community wherever possible and expect to announce further exciting initiatives involving the community this year’.
