ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The CEO of Digicel BVI, Declan Cassidy, has officially announced the launch date of Digicel’s new 4G plan as Friday November 16, 2012.

The announcement was made earlier today, November 13, 2012 during a press conference held at Digicel's Road Town office. As part of the launch, Digicel will be hosting a street party on Waterfront Drive at 6:30 PM on the day of the launch, which is slated to feature a number of local artistes.

The line-up will include Shine-I, Maccabee, The Hardcore band, Jeremy Vanterpool, Shooting Star steel band, Joe Rankin, Shatta as well as the
Showtime Band.

Mr Cassidy said that some of the benefits of the new service include faster browsing and email and greater access

The geographical coverage of the Territory is expected to be approximately 95% while population penetration is currently an estimated 85%.

The CEO also expressed that the subscriber base has grown exponentially since the company arrived to the Territory and the company’s investment of $6M was well worth the price.

Asked about the delay in bringing the 4G service given that another company had previously launched theirs, Mr Cassidy said Digicel was not in a rush to be first but to be the best.

Mr Cassidy further related that there is a data calculator on the website that would assist customers on which plan might be most appropriate for them to subscribe to.

There is no unlimited plan currently in place for the new service but customers have the option of choosing a plan that includes up to 20 gigabytes of downloads.

Overall, we can thank God for the VIP and liberalization of the sector...(yea I remember when one company you had to pay for outgoing and when someone call yu) that we have a vibrant telecom sector and I look forward very much to the introduction of 4G services.

I think this will go some way to make corporate BVI and hopefully the public sector more competitive....and God knows, we need all the help we can get.!

Here we go again...deceiving the unassuming public....If you guys only know!!! I advise you to take the lowest plan you could get and use VOIP...All of these cell phone companies are out to get us....outlandish rates, shoddy customer service and definitely not value for money.
