Demming sinks season high 28 as VG Summer Jam hits high gear

VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI– Last weekend’s games in the VG Summer Jam at the Jeffrey Caines basketball court in Virgin Gorda had plenty of action, including a season high 28 points for Jevonne Demming in Up to Da Time’s 82-79 victory over Without a Doubt.

The first full weekend of basketball got underway in week 2 of Summer Jam 2013 on Friday August 30, 2013 with three games.

In the C division, Come to Defend defeated On a Mission 60-57. For Come To Defend S. Paul 16 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, Jalem Levons 10 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals, 4 assists, 1 block, J. Levons 11 points, 1 steal, 3 assists, N. Clark 13 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals, K. Stevens 4 points, 2 rebounds, 9 steals, 2 assists. For the losing On A Mission I. Springer led the way with 26 points, 17 rebounds, 3 steals , 3 assists, T. Lawrence 12 points, 1 rebound, J. Leonard 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist, 1 block shot and T. Lenard 9 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, 7 assists.

In the B division, Youth On Fire defeated Chaotic 45-41. For Youth on Fire Kemoi Bolus lead the team with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist while Diandre George gave strong support with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 5 assists, Orandi Pitt also chipped in nicely with 10 points, 3 rebounds while K. Stevens had 4 points, and 14 huge boards, 2 steals to assist with the win. Incidentally, Stevens’s domination of the boards would be what hurt Chaotic the most.

No one for Chaotic showed any real domination of the boards. K. Hatchet led the way with 11 points, 6 rebounds with K. Fahie 9 points. W. Bridgewater had 7 points, 6 rebounds, with V. Farrington 5 points and 7 rebounds.

Run It Red missed being the first team to burst the clock over 100 points when they defeated Real Talent 93-71. Raheem Bylden scored 24 points, 7 rebounds, Ju Phillip 15 points, 9 rebounds, Nathaniel Malone 11 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, Gerrard Vanterpool 11 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 block and Jevon Serrant 10 points , 8 rebounds.

For the losing Real Talent J. Wilson had 20 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal, Jahleel Lake 21 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 assists, Franky Quashie 13 points, 1 assist and Allan Roberts Jr 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks.

On Saturday night the only undefeated team of the three champions High Speed came up against Young Ballers and in a game that proved to be quite vocal where coaches and players were collecting early technical fouls High Speed reined supreme. Demoii Dagou was the leading scorer with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, D’Moi Walters 16 points, 2 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists. Jwan Francis 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and Malachi Payne 6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals.

For Young Ballers, Richardson lead the way with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 steals, Penn had 6 points, 12 rebounds, 6 steals and Wattley easily the best player on his team had a disappointing 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals.

The B Division saw their first forfeiture with Go Hard taking maximum points without breaking a sweat.

Meanwhile in the A Division Without A Doubt were defeated by Up T Da Time 82-79. Up To Da Time who faltered on the final hurdle last year have returned with a vengeance and have started this campaign with an obvious desire to go one step further.

Jevon Demming finished with the highest individual points total this season with 28 points, adding 3 rebounds, 6 steals, 2 assists, Mark Noel 16 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and utility man Lee Evans Jacobs 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, where the main contributors to the team. For Without A Doubt Phillip Glasgow 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 6 assists, William Penn Jr 19 points, 2 blocks and Duran Phillip 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 5 assists, 3 blocks.

On Sunday, in a Ladies game, No Worries defeated Young Talent 48-33. For No worries, Reid Stolzensels scored 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals, 1 assist, Demoi Bradley 9 points, 10 rebounds, 8 steals and Akor George 8 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals. For the losing Young Talent Joy Victor 18 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals, 1 assist, 1 block.

In the A division, Raw Skills defeated Final Judgment 77-36. For Raw Skills Enrico Harrigan 20 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block. Kenrick Thomas 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 6 assists, Alton Vanterpool 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 5 assist and Asim Beezer 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists. For Final Judgment Bhzakiam George 11 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals 1 assist, and Christopher Santana 8 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists.
