Demming sees red as BVI routed 16-0!
The crowd of 188 at the Stade Georges Gratiant was soon treated to a goal fest as Stephane Abaul and Jordy Delem also had a pair of goals for Martinique, which went ahead on Delem's first in the sixth minute and scored nine times in the second half, five of which came in the last 11 minutes.
Gerald Dondon, Steve Gustan, Jacky Berdix, Djenhael, Gaetan Sidney and Alex Balmy had single strikes for Martinique.
The British Virgin Islands, which was beaten 17-0 by the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Cup two years ago, played the final 52 minutes with only 10 men after Jevonne Demming was sent off for a deliberate handball.
In the first game of the doubleheader before a crowd of 800 at Stade Georges-Gratiant, Giovanni Waal scored the first of his two in the third minute and Stefano Rijssel added a pair in the final five minutes to lead Suriname over Montserrat.
Waal scored his second in the 11th minute and Romano Sordam added another in the 16th to put Suriname in control 3-0 by the 16th minute.
Jurmen Vallei and Giovanni Drenthe also had goals for the "Suriboys".
Play will resume in Group 3 on Friday with the British Virgin Islands facing Suriname and Martinique opposing Montserrat.Martinique will qualify (and Montserrat will be eliminated) if they defeat Montserrat AND Suriname do not lose to the British Virgin Islands. Suriname will qualify (and the British Virgin Islands will be eliminated) if they defeat the British Virgin Islands AND Martinique do not lose to Montserrat
The Group concludes on Sunday with the top two teams advancing to the second round.
