ESTATE CONTENTMENT, St Croix, USVI — The (US) Virgin Islands Police Department found a decomposing body at about 2:30 p.m. today, Friday January 15, 2016 on St Croix, US Virgin Islands, Kevin Jackson, the force’s public information officer announced via a press release.

According to the release, the 911 emergency call centre received notification from a concerned citizen of the discovery of a decomposing body in Estate Contentment.

Mr Jackson said responding officers arrived at the site and came upon an old, uncovered water well and saw the body. The well was approximately 25-30 feet deep and contained close to 3 feet of water. St Croix Rescue was summoned to the scene to assist in the extraction of the body.

The matter is under active investigation by detectives, according to Mr Jackson.
