ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Brand new vehicles were flying out of showrooms on Saturday May 7, 2016 when in what many are saying is unprecedented, there were two major car sales on the same day.

Tortola Auto Group held a Queen Elizabeth II/Mother’s Day car sales event during which they partnered with Nagico Insurances Limited to offer a range of benefits to customer.

Managing Director of TAG Patricia M. Romney said that for the entire promotion the company sold about 60 vehicles, most of them their flagship Hyundai Tucson.

“Today is 20, but the car sale started on April 18, 2016,” she said. “We had a little bit of a late start as we find that folks tend to come later in the afternoon especially when the sun comes down,” she said, of the slow start to the day at the company’s Slaney Point showroom.

Romney said Scotiabank was one of the banks that was able to give TAG a special financing rate, offering up to 100 percent financing and waiving their application fee for the entire sale period.

“We started the sale to coincide with the Queen’s 90th birthday and we just let it run straight into Mother’s Day,” she said, noting that they were also offering discounts in selected models.

Asked which of the models had been seeing the most sales, she said this was by far the Hyundai Tucson. “This is the trademark standard-bearer vehicle for TAG. That one has moved tremendously from the day we opened our doors...that has been the one grabbing everybody’s attention,” she said.

Dealers report 'good' sales @ TPP

Meanwhile, at the Tortola Pier Park, Caribbean Insurers Limited had its car sale which saw the presence of Burke’s Garage, International Motors, International Motors Fish Bay, VI Motors and Nibbs Auto Sales.

The dealers indicated that they were signing up customers Bills of Sale and that there was a steady stream of persons coming to take advantage of the deals.

When this news site visited the Tortola Pier Park it was abuzz with activity of persons making their selections and signing up for various deals and discounts. "We have had lots of sales...people have been signing up Bills of Sale," said a sales agent from Burke's Garage.

This was echoed by Rosemary Phillips, Car Sales Manager of Nibbs Auto Sales who said that, despite the competition, sales were good at the car sale on Saturday.

Caribbean Insurers Limited also offered a special rate for those making purchases. All of the dealers said they were offering up to $3,000 off the original price in some cases.

Banks makes it look easy, but you are paying a lot of interest and tie yourself up for years!!! and after you finished paying for your car it is worth half of what you bought it for. 100% financing is an old trick. consumers be careful

And NO new parking spaces created. U have to come town earlier and earlier everyday to get your usual parking spot. THE GOVERNMENT NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SHRINKING AVAILABLE SPACES.

What a horrible person you are for making that comment. I have been really good friends with both of these women for over 20 years and they are two of the kindest people around.

While they are way above your level of lowness, you have no idea how your words could have affected them or anyone else who is reading this forum. I ask of you to please think before you speak/type next time.

Annette and Nash, you are both beautiful people.

That is a really mean spirited comment. You do not make jokes about things like that. They are lovely people, inside and out.

I would like a new ride, with windows not working, AC not working, shocks dead and all other manner of evil, oh how I wish. My jelopy will have to do for now though, not putting my hat to much farther out of reach. Oh how I would like to drive that Sante Fe though!! Just saying.
