ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – First District Representative and senior member of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Andrew A. Fahie said that while his party has always supported the idea of an expansion of the cruise pier, they cannot ignore that with the numerous delays there is bound to be cost overruns which ultimately the taxpayer will bear.

Honourable Fahie was one of the panelists on the last VIP ‘Let’s Talk’ radio programme heard on Wednesday February 4, 2015 on ZBVI 780 AM.

“The Virgin Islands Party has always stated clearly that it is a needed project, because the Virgin Islands Party is the one who built the dock, who expanded the dock, widened the dock, repaired the dock…yes we might have differences in methodology on how we were going to move forward with the project but at the end of the day we always agreed that it was needed and the Virgin Islands Party has always supported the pier section,” he said.

“But when we analyse this project and I have been doing some research on all the speeches that have been made on this project from the inception. I have done a full analysis on all the dates that have been given to us and I have noticed with keen interest and with an eagle’s eye that the completion date continues to shift,” he said.

“That means that you have delays. If you have delays it means you will have some cost overruns. Those will now have to come to the public in terms of dollars and cents. And where all this money is coming from?” he asked.

Hon Fahie had in an earlier interview with this news site said that the cost of the entire project could balloon from $35 million to as much as $70 million given the extent of delays.

This project and the corruption is just one of the reasons why we are NOT voting for NDP ever again!

Don't talk about the conflict of interest and why they hate Biwater and Digicel so much!

His track record doesn't include a 200mil dollar hospital that was signed for 64mil. His track record doesn't include a Cruise Pier project that first wasn't costing tax payers a dime then they came for a 35mil loan then they told us it will cost 50mil then on NDP drive time we recently learn it was up to 57mil now we heard it is up to 61mil due to a variation that was just approved. Surely this is a problem project & needs investigating.
