Crown may put Bob Hodge’s local charges on hold
Senior Crown Counsel Valston Graham notified senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens that, in lieu of the recent development, the charges of gun possession and money laundering will have to be looked into.
Hodge, along with his wife Violet ‘Letty’ Hodge, appeared in court on March 13, 2012.
They have both been charged with being in possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, and acquisition, possession or use of proceeds of criminal conduct.
In light of this, the Crown has until March 27, 2012 to make a decision.
Meanwhile, Richard Rowe, who was holding for Herbert McKenzie made a successful application to have Mrs. Hodge’s reporting days to the Road Town Police station reduced from daily to three times per week.
Rowe explained that the defendant found it difficult to report daily. He was also successful in the defendant securing her Virgin Islands (VI) driver’s license. The Crown did not object to the application.
The couple is well known in horse-racing in the VI. They own some of the best horses including the retired champion Actspectation, Really Uptown, Glorious Memory, Memuneh and Lake Texoma. Mrs. Hodge is a former president of the Virgin Islands Horse Owners’ Association and remains very active in the sport.
