ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Leading over 200 Runners, Khiry Creque and Lakeisha Warner made it two wins from two following race two of the Tortola leg of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College/Highland Spring Race Series on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Creque, clocking a time of 11 minutes 24.03 seconds, shaved a whole minute off his race one time and appears to be eyeing the Paraquita Bay course fifteen-year record of 10 minutes 45.30 seconds, set by Lyndell Roberts (November 20, 1997). Shaquoy Stevens remains on his heels, while past overall male champion Raheem Taylor entered the competition to finish in third place.

Fifteen year old Lakeisha Warner also improved on her time. With her two wins she is now very close to securing the overall female championship crown and becoming the youngest overall champion in the history of the series. She continues to be followed by team mates Tarika Moses and Nialya Smith, the 2nd and 3rd place finishers respectively.

In the one mile and the cross country arenas, standings have certainly been stirred up. Young Luka Chalwell overtook race one winner M’Khori Crabbe for the win this weekend while Ariyah Smith, who was second to Vallesha Guishard in race one, took the win this week with Guishard settling for second place.

In the Service Club category, the third place finish of Team Rotaract has allowed Team Rotary of Tortola to now take over the lead by one position point. One position point also separates Rotaract and Team Rotary of Road Town, who is currently third. Team Althea Scatliffe’s victory has tied them with Team Willard Wheatley for the lead and similarly Team Cedar Parents/Teacher is tied with Team HLSCC due to their victory in the Community Partners category. In the Secondary division there is still only team Cedar continuously led by Jude Kinkead, who was joined this week by Kai Chalwell.

In the Wheelchair division, Joel Jean-Baptiste slashed 2 minutes off of his race one time as he continues to get to know the course better and develop his riding skills.

The 17th year of the HLSCC-Highland Spring Race Series continues this Saturday with Race two in Virgin Gorda. Registration will begin at 6:30 A.M. at the College’s Virgin Gorda Centre with race start time set at 7 A.M.
