‘Crazy white man’ causing disturbance at Fort Burt Marina
When this news site was alerted to the situation and rushed to the scene, the man was seen picking up what was believed to be garbage which were scattered across the road and a short while after stood at the frontage of The Pub speaking as if he was out of his mind.
When contacted, a staff member of The Pub told this news site that the man started speaking and doing strange things which had led them to believe that he has a mental problem. The female staff said earlier in the afternoon the man was causing havoc in the traffic throwing things at vehicles as they passed by.
“Some people even stopped and told him to get out their way and that if he caused any damage to their vehicle they would not have been taking it lightly,” she reported.
The woman said that they then gave him a garbage bag and ordered him to clean his mess off the street and he complied. But that was the beginning of a worse situation as he went into The Pub and was causing a disturbance much to the discomfort to staff and patrons.
They managed to chase him away and he went over to the Conch Charter and dumped the refuse onto a boat. “The guys tried to deal with him but he ran out into the street,” said an eyewitness.
The woman said that they summoned the assistance of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) whose officers at the time of speaking with this news site were seated in the police vehicle observing the man.
The Pub’s employee said that the man was at their business place since last week Monday and had told them that he was thrown out of his hotel. “We directed to another hotel but they throw him out too but we can now see why because he has a mental problem,” the woman said. She also said that his outrageous behaviour started today as he was very calm all of last week and had caused no problem then.
Staff at The Pub said that police's efforts to catch the man were futile but they took his belongs and the man made good his escape. "We are pretty sure he is going to be back because he left his stuff behind," said The Pub employee. Police have since left the scene.
