COVID-19 patient discharged from hospital; 14 active cases in VI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The COVID-19 patient that was hospitalised earlier this month has since been discharged from Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital, according to the latest COVID-19 update from the Government of the Virgin Islands.

It was also revealed that the territory now has 14 positive active cases of COVID-19, the largest number being recorded on Virgin Gorda.

According to the latest update, as of January 14, 2021, the Government of the Virgin Islands said, the remaining four active cases are on the main island of Tortola.

This now brings the total number of cases to 121 to be recorded locally, with 106 persons recovered, zero hospitalized and one death.

Government noted that all active cases and their contacts are in quarantine.

In the meantime, the two other sister islands of Jost van Dyke and Anegada remain without any reported cases of COVID-19.

There are also no recorded cases on vessels at this time.

Notably, this latest statistics brings the total number of samples to 16,648 from 16,634 persons who have been tested at the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital Laboratory in Road Town.
