ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Police officer Starcy Huggins was granted bail in the sum of $60,000 after she pleaded not guilty to a charge of breach of trust by a public officer when placed before the Magistrate’s Court today, May 23, 2014.

According to the allegations, Police were about to conduct an operation in relation to two individuals on November 29, 2013 and Huggins was one of the officers detailed to be involved in the operation.

She met with a detective sergeant who gave her a copy of the operation documents. While in the police vehicle awaiting word from the command, the other officers left officer Huggins in the jeep and were later informed that the operation was cancelled.

Investigations were carried out and it was later discovered that she made contact with two of the targets of the operation.

She was met in December 2013 and asked certain questions about the incident.

Huggins allegedly admitted to knowing both subjects of the investigation and knowing both of their telephone numbers but refused to answer any questions about the calls that were made informing them of the operation.

A warrant was executed on the phone used by the officer to contact the targets and it was confirmed that a conversation took place among the parties.

The recording of what she said in the vehicle was also obtained. She allegedly said: "Hey hey it's Starcy. Ayo owe me big time... They coming they coming now…"

Huggins was later arrested and charged for the offence before the court.

what a fool you are, so you think its ok that she did this? if the white cops are doing it they equally need punishing. This is another reason people don't report crime to the police.

just blinded a bit by dogma, and with a focus on the past rather than the future.

Hopefully she won't get a next time. Fire and jail her. Then weed out all others who put friends and family (and probably money) ahead of protecting and serving the people of the BVI.

It is this, she was suspected of doing this for a long time, the set up an operation within a mock operation to catch her, and they did, it is some how like entrapment, but she fell for the trap, camera was set up in the vehicle and she got burnt really bad, I don't condone these type of behavior by police officers, she could have easily get one of her fellow officers killed or ambushed, well is not that they was going on any operation anyway, that was just said to set the trap, but she never saw it coming, one bad cop is too much, sorry but you have to face the hammer, local or international I don't give a rats a**.

Can't be street and be a cop at the same time....she tried to play both sides that's the main reason why no one reports on crime they know about

That's BULL! They can try to set me up all they want and would never find a thing because I am honest. Only the guilty will get stung in the trap because they are too stupid to ever think they would not get caught and because they got away with it before, nothing will ever happen to them. Even if they suspected her. they had nothing until she did the deed in the police car by making the call and they got her on tape and video, so most of this was her fault even if people feel it was entrapment.

No one set her up. She set up her own stupid a.. self by being gr..dy, dish...st and cor...t. Stop blaming others for this fool short coming. They should put her a.. in jail, for failing the public that she swore to protect. Who can we trust if we can't trust the Police. We are in a sad place.

Dishonesty and corruption to the highest degree. Anyway she's innocent until proven guilty, but if the allegations are true, then this is a sad day in the life of the RVIPF. Now we see why most locals refused to join the force. I believe that's the problem that they face. Whether or not they can be loyal to the Queen or to their families and friends, and as such they make the smart choice not to join, just to make sure they are not in Huggins position. They should be commended. Those who join the Force to do what Huggins do will eventually be found out.

@ Charged, she is charged with 'breach of trust' not 'breach of the peace'. Please take your time and read the first paragraph carefully.

What's new? A p....ce w...n tipped off the crack house man in Vanterpool Estate who was her cousin. This BS happens all the time, that is why I don't care what I know I will never trust a police officer. Those c...upt cops need to be weeded out of the RVIPF. There is no room for that kind of callous and criminal behaviour. What message are they sending, that they have the criminals backs and law abiding citizens can go to HELL? Give me a f#%$fcking break. Some thing has got got to be done. We need a police force that is worthy of the public's trust.
