A terrible tragedy, alas preventable. My condolences to his family in this difficult moment. Alas, here in the BVIs nobody seems to want to look at that section of the Labor Code, as amended 2012, that addresses the issue of preventing work related injuries and illness. That is the real tragedy. How many more work related injuries and fatalities are we going to accept as the cost of business before we join the modern world in attempting to prevent such

Agree with, these accidents are surely preventable. In Canada and US the employer is responsible for providing a safe work environment. The employee must be wearing a harness and lifeline 10 feet and above, this is what is needed to be enforce in the BVI. SAFETY SEEMS TO BE A FOREIGN LANGUAGE HERE. Its not worth it to take on these risk.

It is indeed sad to hear. My condolence goes to Mrs Martin and children. Why wasn't he sent to Miami for medical treatment. Is it because he is an expat. Apart from the NHI I would like to encourage everyone who can afford to take out a good insurance plan that will cover accidental injuries and that will off set the liabilities that will occur in the event there is an accident.

Thats how NHI working these days? Fly them where its cheaper to get the same sub standard service we get here in tortola? Honestly Puerto Rico and the USA has better facilities why now play cheap and not take the man there as we have been doing for years. They say NHI or else and some companies will play cheap just to save a buck and drop their regular insurance for this. Guys stop playing with people lives. Either get the proper trained people here or send people where the treatment is better.

Did he have a visa? Stop talking sh*t and pray for the family. Instead of getting on here going on about NHI . Condolences to the family and friends both here and in St Vincent, may the Good Lord comfort you at this time . Peace.

So george you saying because he did not have a visa is the reason why you all ship him to Trinidad. Damn idiot, was he going to a hotel and go shopping after? He was going to a hospital for treatment. No, No, No, its just being cheap. So where is the NHI money really going? The hospital emergency room door is not even working, you have to open it manually. Where is our money going george?

The NHI working ask how many persons got help from that system? The rich, the poor and the middle class all walks of life get and continue to benefit. The burden is much lighter on many families who couldn't afford regular insurance. It is good.
