ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – “The HIMA Health family extends heartfelt congratulations to the BVI Government, Health Services and the people of the British Virgin Islands on the inauguration of your new facility. Your commitment to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of hospital care throughout the Virgin Islands and the wider Caribbean community is admirable,” said Mr Damion C. Grange of HIMA.

Grange said that they have recognized the hard work and tedious planning that have been invested to make this vision a reality, and believe with such focus, VI healthcare will continue to advance in an exemplary brand of service.

He said that HIMA is appreciative of the opportunity to partner with a team with similar intent, which is to ensure that the people within our region have access to the highest standard of care possible. Since 2012, HIMA has continued steadfastly in the provision of Specialty Services and has made special provision for VI patients needing a more advanced level of care at their Puerto Rico facilities.

“As HIMA continues to operate as an extension of Peebles, we look forward to our continued partnership with the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) in promoting quality and affordable care. Also, we concur with Minister [for Health and Social Development Hon Ronnie W. Skelton's] push towards medical tourism, and are happy to say that through our relationship this initiative is already in its primitive phase and pledge our continued support to making the BVI one of the premier wellness destinations in the Caribbean,” said Grange.

Hon Skelton during his address at the opening ceremony of the new hospital singled out HIMA as an institution worthy of commendation because the level of their partnership with the BVIHSA especially as they seek to expand their clinics locally.

“I am told that these clinics are heavily subscribed and are in the process of expanding …. This will accommodate more persons who would no longer have to travel overseas for specialist consultation and follow up visits,” said Hon Skelton.

He further said that strategic partnership with institutions as HIMA Health and Baptist Health of South Florida not only allows the BVIHSA to bring more specialists to the Territory but also their provisions that are in place when overseas access to further health care services becomes necessary.

The hospital fired that guy but his Ndp pals who have their hands in everything including heemmma has insulted the hospital and brought him back to the hospital. The corruption continues even in health care. Time will tell.

I have no problem with your expression here....I'm just surprised that although the acronym "HIMA" is clearly stated you still wrote "HEEMMMA". I figure maybe you did it to make the general public assume it's from an unintelligent person.

High standard of care starts with the Doctors and the nurses. Which currently too many of them suck at their jobs. There are countless of stories and I witnessed couple of them myself. Nurses who don't know how to handle emergency situations and Doctors giving you wrong readings on scans. It is a sad situation. But thanks for giving us a posh place to die in!

I pray that those in charge of the hospital will seriously pay attention to the rate of turn around time of patients who have been discharged and readmitted within a few days time. I pray that they pay close attention to the mortality rate giving notice to the patient care that was supposedly being administered. If some medical staff members don't have it in them to aid in the wellbeing of patients, in case of death they need to be held accountable for death by negligence. They getting away with too much now. Patients are not animals, they deserve to be treated by the best Medical Staff not US$ seeking employees .

Damion Grange, don't mind the haters. You will do a great job for HIMA. To the Management of HIMA great choice with Damion Grange as your representative, he will make you proud. To those who are doing everything possible to make you get fired from this job, their time will come around. Who JAH bless, let no man curse.

Management at the hospital need to stop having patients that are admitted pay for medication that the nurses take home for their own use.
