Confusion over mask sparks brawl with police & youth @ RiteWay Pasea
Charlesworth George Jr of Little Dix Hill, Tortola was in the RiteWay Pasea store yesterday Friday, September 25, 2020, when he was approached by a female police officer who attempted to ticket him for not wearing a face mask.

Eyewitnesses told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) that before the altercation, several police officers had entered the store around 12:30 pm on Friday, while George Jr and his girlfriend were both shopping with masks.
However, is it being alleged that the young man’s mask kept falling off leading to a female police officer attempting to issue a ticket, resulting in George Jr becoming furious when the officers asked for his name.
Sources said things got even worse when the man was informed that he was committing an offence by refusing to provide his name and at that point, Geroge Jr allegedly got irate and disorderly which resulted in both the man and his girlfriend getting restrained with handcuffs outside the store following the altercation.
It is also being alleged that the female police officer along with another stationed in the area have been issuing tickets to shoppers and residents without first giving a warning.
Youth now facing several charges
After the arrest, George Jr was slapped with several charges which included obstructing police in the execution of duty, resisting arrest, failing to give name and address, disorderly conduct, insulting language, indecent language, and assault on Police.
He was granted station bail in the amount of $5k with one signed surety and will face the magistrate court on October 12, 2020, to answer the charges.

You are a friggin a$$hole...the guy was wearing a mask ... it is allege his mask kept falling off...the friggin down island cop need to adjust to the changing situation... did she took a photo for court evidence to show the alledged was not wearing.. THIS IS FRIGGING INSANE...
His mask fell pass his nose bcuz he was talk n & then the officer approached him say n his mask isn't on & she go n2 ticket him.
It's so strange that female officer have so much zest 2 ticket someone with her lying story but can't solve the case of her son's murder!!!!!!!! PUT UR ENERGY IN THAT!

According to section 7. (1) which reads...
Subject to this section, every person shall wear a face mask, at all times when in public place, including at any establishment, gatherings and on public transportation.
2. Subsection (1) shall not apply where a person is
(a) in open air settings and maintains a physical distance of no less than six feet from any other person who may be nearby;
Please know your rights. However don't become combative with the officers. Just print the ordinance and have it handy.

Mr. ***from Environmental Health, did you and your co-conspirators ever sat down and consider persons with underlying conditions having to wear these mask? Tell the people to what to drink and while you are at it, tell the Premier that he also needs to build his immune system and exercise because I can see he will soon pass out from that mask! Another thing, I don't understand why everyone can't just wear the stupid mask on their mouth alone? If everyone does that, there will be no droplets infecting one another because all mouths will be covered. They really have us how they want!
Premier, you said it would have been a warning, I hope you are reading these blogs and see how fast things are changing between police and civilians because of this virus/masks.
