PARHAM TOWN, Tortola, VI- The discovery of a body of a woman in her Parham Town home on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, was reportedly made by her employer of over 20 years.

According to reports reaching our news centre, the now deceased Joycelyn Woodley was employed in the the domestic industry for two decades.

Her employer had become concerned after not seeing or hearing from her since Sunday, September 13, 2020. He had allegedly made several calls to her phone without any response.

Unpleasant discovery

After calling again on Tuesday and getting no reply, the concerned employer decided to visit Woodley's home.

It is said that the door to her single bedroom apartment was discovered unlocked; however, calling out to her yielded no response.

The man proceeded to enter the apartment and was hit by a strong stench, which led him to her bedroom where Woodley's body was discovered on a bed.

Neighbour didn't suspect anything was off

A neighbour said she had called out to Woodley on Monday morning, while heading out to work, and thought she heard a response. She called out to her on Tuesday morning also and she received no reply but didn't suspect something was wrong.

Woodley, a national of St Vincent and The Grenadines, was the mother of a police officer stationed on Virgin Gorda.

She was a beloved member of the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre in Baughers Bay, Tortola.

we are proud of u for checking on your mother that many times a day, number of phone calls dont necessary express or equate to love or care. avoid the urge to use your live to judge others, that you dont even have a clue how they live theirs.

I totally agree with the comment. Can't believe that she has children in the bvi and she is found in a state of decay. I have children overseas and we touch base every day. She died alone. I wish my mum was alive so I can check in with her. There is nothing you can do now. It is too late.

you guys thing you are more loving than everybody, show some sympathy and stop judging. you see, words has a way of coming to bites each one of us in our hiding secret ugly lives, pretending to be caring in public and media.

No need to justify nothing to the world's most judgmental society. All who talking ain't no better. Not like the woman had a sign on her forehead with the time she was expected to go. You can just talk to somebody and then bam. People just like to run their mouth. Sometimes you call and get no answer, you don't assume the person dead, sometimes they just in the toilet and didnt get a chance to call back. BVI bloggers really go on as if their sh..t does be white and not brown. Sickening.

What planet you people living on?

Husband and wife together not not together, living in the same house sleeping in separate room or the same bed and not together...

Parents molesting, abusing, selling, killing their children, treating them like strangers and others like blood...

What were you saying about checking in again? The world isn’t Facebook perfect.

Let the woman rest and her family mourn in peace.

This is a sad reality of life today. Most persons just live their own lives not thinking of others in their live. We get too busy and dont take time out for personal relationships and family. Sudden death in the community is becoming a frequent occurrence. We never know what an individual is going through. Many have struggles and no one to turn to. Stress and worry added to medical conditions are deadly.

I am going to value my friends and family more and try to be a brother to all I meet. It is time for us to be more community minded.

It just a very sad situation. My condolences to the family. Let's have compassion my people. The loss of a loved one is difficult enough, there's no point in pass rash judgments.

It sad though,. My sympathy to the family. That's why I say we all have to be our neighbors keeper. Where I am in St.Lucia my neighbors always check up on one another. If we don't see in the day we see in the afternoon. If one is sick we would know. If I don't hear from a neighbor like what happened to that woman, I would go to the house. I wouldn't wait two days. Not everyone can have neighbors like that. Some people like their private life.
