GREENLAND, Tortola, VI- It was a triple celebration for the Daley and Simmonds family on Saturday, August 8, 2020, as their triplets turned one year old on Thursday, August 6, 2020. The family was also joined by members of the community for the special occasion at the Francis Lettsome Primary School in Greenland, Tortola.

Triple joy

It was early 2019 that doctors broke the news to Ms Shellene T. Daly and Jermy D. Simmonds that in months they were going to be parents to three new babies.

The news took the family by surprise but it was also one of joy.

Finding out early also signaled to the expecting parents they would have to make some major adjustments to their lives.

Ms Daley already had two two older children; Fantasia A. Fenton and Nashawne J. J. Brown, who had expressed nothing but joy on learning they were going to be siblings to triplets.

The babies were born at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital on August 6, 2019 and were discharged with a clean bill of health.

It was then reality kicked in for the mom as she now had to develop a number of new skills such as identifying each child and how to cuddle three at one so they feel the love equally.

Funday

As the triplets turned one year old, the family expressed gratitue to God and the community and said making it through one year is testament that the life journey is very promising.

Celebrating the triplet's first birthday was a must by the principal and staff of Francis Lettsome Primary School as the children's mother is part of the staff.

Teacher Lucitta E. Ottley, with the support of the staff, led the charge in bringing the community in one space to celebrate the triplets 1st birthday. It was a full fun day with slides, water sports and more on Saturday.

The family was very happy for the celebration and said, while they look forward to the journey of raising the triplets, they welcome all the support they can possibly get.

They are the 3rd set of triplets in the territory. The blydens (huntums ghut), the samuels (virgin gorda) and now the simmonds.

Reading is fundamental. It said the territory's youngest triplets, not first, not only. Sigh
