It was an atmosphere filled with lots of culture, music, colour and excitement as the Jost Van Dyke Primary School held its annual Christmas Concert at Foxy's in Great Harbour yesterday, December 15, 2013.

GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI - It was an atmosphere filled with lots of culture, music, colour and excitement as the Jost Van Dyke Primary School held its annual Christmas Concert at Foxy's in Great Harbour yesterday, December 15, 2013.

Students dressed in colourful Territorial costumes performed several recitations of poetry and sang and danced while showcasing their talent to the entertainment and amusement of their family and friends that made up the audience.

The event was hosted by Foxy's for the fifth consecutive year according to Principal, Mrs Marva Martin.

Principal Martin herself sang for the crowd and prizes were distributed by Spanish teacher and MC, Ms Jaidene Webb to members of the audience as they participated by answering various questions.

The students were led on keyboard by Ms B. Clyne and Mr Gerard Huggins who both did an extraordinary job. Each musician also sang a song as well for the crowd.

The students also performed a skit, the Birth of Jesus, with remarkable poise and precision and were roundly applauded for their fantastic execution.

There was also a fungi selection by students of the school who performed with one of their teachers.

Martin expressed that the concert went off very well and added that it kept getting better and better with each passing year.

It was an exciting event. The music teachers Huggins and Mrs. Cline have done an excellent job with the kids. Congrats to the Principal, staff and oh, the wonderful kids who put on a grand show. Keep up the good work!

Halos to the staff member from VINO for covering this event. Thank you, VINO!! Too often the sister islands are neglected and no one knows what really takes place. The students are very talented. Congratulations to the Principal, Staff & Students for putting on such a wonderful show. It was just awesome! Big up to the music teachers---- Chambers, Clyne and Huggins; you guys are just the BEST. Next year we want the return of Alfred and Millie for the skit though; these characters are just hilarious. Keep the talents on going at Jost Van Dyke.
