ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Many political commentators, pundits and social scientist have said the Virgin Islands 2019 General Elections would have resulted in a coalition government.

They were all wrong! The Virgin Islands Party (VIP) won outright with 8 seats. They captured the four At-Large seats and four districts, D1, D5, D7 and D9.

The reality is that the Opposition in Parliament will have a coalition of 3 political parties. The National Democratic Party (NDP 1) has three seats, D4, D6, and D8.  The Progressives United (PU) has 1, D3 and the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) has 1, D2.

The Opposition Leader

Our news Centre was advised from other elected Members that there is a member lobbying for Opposition Leader’s post however, it is our understanding that Hon Marlon A. Penn elected member for D8, will be the Opposition Leader having a majority.

It is unclear when the House of Assembly (HoA) will resume and who will be named Speaker.

Fraser"s ignorance and quest for power landed him where he is. Had he stayed loyal to the VIP who brought him to prominence he would have been Deputy Premier today. Want all get NONE.

Barbara Stevens Defreitas is more objective and imperial than the"esteemed one". He displayed some very questionable behavior during this election cycle. It has NOTHING to do with supporting your party, but more so to do with like now, the aftermath.
