Clyne big on promises, mulls Underwater Restaurant in D2
Mr Clyne during his campaign launch in Cane Garden Bay on January 24, 2019, revealed big plans for the district once elected as their representative in the 2019 elections.
Honestly & Integrity
“If you are sitting here at this launch tonight, it means that you want answers. You are here on your own time because you care about this district and you want to make sure that I care about it just as much as you do. You want to make sure that I bring real solutions, not just bandages,” he told those gathered.
According to the VIP D2 hopeful, his goals are to maintain integrity and honesty as a district representative, “The main thing that I can promise at this point is unquestionable integrity. Without it, no real success is possible. I pledge to be honest, fair and to use wisdom at all times.”
Mr Clyne continued, “As I entered the political arena, I said to myself, if the people are not at the centre of what I do, then I do not want to do it! The Virgin Islands Party, under the leadership of our Chairman, Hon. Andrew A. Fahie has proven to be a party of the people, by the people, for the people. Country above self has been our cry. I can align myself proudly and confidently with such a vision because it mirrors mine.”
He said he was eager to continue to meet with all the constituents and hear directly from the people which issues they need to address. “If it is broken and we will fix it! NOW! We will continue to strategize the solutions needed to move this territory in one direction, forward.”
Tourism Hub
Mr Clyne remarked that 2nd District was a Tourism Hub, with some of the best beaches and places in the world, “It is home to the Callwood Rum Distillery. It is home to Quitos and Myetts. It was the home of the BVI Music Festival.”
He said he worked with the music festival full-time and can therefore report that the impacts of such an event is financially, socially and economically beneficial to the Virgin Islands.
“After Hurricane Irma, we lost a lot but there were two things that were still intact – the “Sun” and the “Sea”. These two resources were given to us by the creator and we must find ways to get more value from them. It is time for us to look at our water as a source of creating facilities that our guests and citizens can indulge in while ensuring that monies are made.”
How can we accomplish this he questioned, “An underwater restaurant, a butterfly museum, an ATV tourist trail, water taxis, underwater photo shoots, biodegradable plastic, bike shops and repairs, recording studios, glass making, sign making, sports fishing, a local spice shop, E-commerce business, dog walking services, a soap factory,” he remarked.
“These are just a few of the innovative, practical business ideas that I picked up while going through District 2. With our strong focus on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, these ideas are possible when you elect me, Carnel Clyne, and the Green Team.”
