ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands will be represented by two cyclists at the 2019 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Road World Championship in Yorkshire, England in September.
According to the BVI Cycling Federation (BVICF), Mr Darel Christopher Jr and Mr Philippe Leroy will be taking part in the event.
Mr Christopher Jr will compete in the Men’s Elite Individual Time Trial on September 25, 2019 covering a distance of 54km.
Both Mr Christopher Jr and Mr Leroy, the National Elite Time Trial and National Road Race Champion, will then compete in the Men’s Elite Road Race covering a distance 285km on September 29, 2019.
The World Championship consists of a series of events that commences on September 22, 2019 through September 29, 2019.
“We anticipate that the 2 BVI cyclists will give it there all and have strong finishes,” President of the BVICF, Mr Darel Christopher Sr stated in a press release on August 22, 2019.
